He has a valid point, though.

I have to agree. So much culture seems to revolve around music snobbery these days, hipsters in particular.

Music marketing says, "Buy X."
Music fans say, "F*** you; I'm buying Y. Everyone else, buy Y too. We'll show Simon Cowell we can't be influenced by marketing. Even if you don't like Y, buy it because we don't want them to tell us to buy X."

Music fans buy Y. Hilarity ensues. Does that about sum it up?

Of course he nailed it, but it's not a rocket science is it?
Although it was an "one of" thing which proly won't repeat and it didn't consist only people supporting Y. Fans of A, B, C, D... (...) decided to go for the same stuff, to prove the point
Once regarded the best music market in the world now UK is full of mediocrity
So called "pop stars" created in 3-4 months, with guaranteed contract, guaranteed album release and full media support (+ guaranteed spot number one for Christmas), few months tour around the country... Few months later second lousy album which hardly gets media interest because there is another "pop star" on the horizon... And half of them end up where they started - behind the counter at McDonalds (no offense intended to regular employees).

I have absolutely nothing against... let's say... Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa, Kylie Minogue, Madonna. They simply deserve their success, they worked hard for it
But when Cheryl "the hair products advert" Cole says the winner of X Factor DESERVES number one and literally millions of sheep are falling for this... Well that's just proves where the music is heading. The age of cheap entertainment. So cheap it made people sick

On the side note. My friends husband used to work with last year's winner - Alexandra Burke. His words - "An ignorant person who doesn't have a clue what to do with her career. Money and fame comes first"

X Factor being fed to well over 10 million people every single week... and when it came down to the pure competition the only people supporting him were the 14-15 year old teenagers. "OOOH JOE SHULD WINN, HES ADORABLE". Fair enough. However, the problem is those dumb f* teenagers will grow and their mentality will stay the same. 20-30 years ago people got educated by listening to the music, at school, at home. Now people are educated in front of the TV... where the manipulative Karaoke show dictates who, where and when. "Come to us... have your 15mins of fame"

And the actual Rage Against support (buying the the song that is) from outside was rather small compared to what people in the UK did
Cheap downloads? Hell yea... It was RATM that slashed price down to £0.29 on Saturday because they were scared right?

If I ever did have kids, my house wouldnt have a TV, no internets for them untill they are 16, and they will have Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt and Joplin CD's plus a Piano for their entertainment.

Ok, and I can add Alicia Keys too, maybe Norah Jones, but thats spoiling them!!!

Piano, singing and music theory lessons weekly which I can provide myself for free and practice / jam sessions for fun.

But I dont ever want kids, not raising anyone in this world, hell no!

Im not making the same mistake that I had by growing up on Spice Girls, Steps and Britney Spears

Or I could have like 20 kids, each one learning a different instrument and form my own family orchestra .......

/Joke (Would need at least 30, plus enough time to compose ....).

You know what I said when I saw this? "Screw this, I'm downloading what I want, not what other people tell me to!" I didn't want to download it, so I didn't. Instead, I bought a soundtrack (of my favorite movie that's out now).

Carry on. ^_^;
